The only thing that I'm seeing that I think may be causing problems is the extension that you mentioned and that seems to be related to some sort of IPP/CUPS extension. You can likely go ahead and use this instead of typing all the info by hand. It's your system automatically finding your printer on your network but it just doesn't know what to do with it. I'm not sure what you mean by the "extension for IPP/CUPS",the only time I see that is when the notification pops up. When I go to print, it opens the print window (the loading preview page) and then the notification to define the printer, which, if I click on, opens all those tabs.
If I go into EDIT on the one I entered, the IP address comes up with 631 at the end, the URI reads ipp://10.0.0.xx:631/ipp/print (the x'x are the correct numbers) and the printer PPD reads Canon-PIXMA-MX920-Series.ppd Save detected printers to your profile, or add a new printer. Below this, the printer's name is also listed under "detected printers." I then re-entered the info for the 922, which now appears under my printers. I'll try to respond in order to what you wrote above. If you didn't go ahead and grab it from the same place you got the PPD from the link in my first post.

I don't know if you got the PDF file from my Dropbox when you downloaded the PPD but it has some pics to help with installation. You might want to disable or uninstall it before removing the printers and reinstalling the PPD from scratch. I can't say for certain since I don't use it. Lastly, it looks like the extension you posted is for IPP/CUPS printing. The 1.2.3.4 would be your printer's IP address. So, for example: "IPP://1.2.3.4:631/ipp/print" which, as I said, is like a web address. The URI should just look something like a web address. Don't worry about it and just enter the IP without it and let the OS do its thing.Įverything you have for URI is entirely incorrect. Without it the data won't go to the right place. The OS adds it automatically during setup and it is required. This is normal since that port is the actual IPP port needed for printing.
However, when you go to edit the entry it will have the modified address with a ":631" on it. Now, when you setup the printer you'll enter the IP address. Do you have two printers? If not what I would do is delete both of these entries and start from scratch. One is named "Home" and the other "Canon MX920 Series". If I'm reading this correctly it looks like you have two printers defined. If others are having success with these instructions, it's gotta be something I'm doing or not doing, as the case may be. If I change the ADDRESS line to the correct IP address and the PPD to the one I have saved on my files, and then I try to print, it will again show me the popup asking to defiine a printer, etc. If I hit the three dots at the Canon under MY SAVED and then go to EDIT, it says the following under Address:Ĭanon-PIXMA-MX920-Series%20(1).ppd but this is greyed out. Below that, under "Add printers to your profile," it shows "Canon MX920 series" and the words SET UP across from it.
